Get Involved

Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of our cause and serve in a number of different capacities. Groups, individuals, and families are encouraged to take part in supporting the Priority Center’s efforts as we continue our mission of connecting with and serving those in need.

On-going Volunteer Opportunities

Basic Needs Warehouse: The Basic Needs Program supports families who are working to establish a healthy non-abusive environment for their children. These families lack the basic items needed to raise their children. Together, with your help, we can get these families what they need to provide a loving and safe home.  Bagging food, sorting clothing, and assisting with inventory are just a few ways which you can help the Basic Needs Program get these items to a family in need. Volunteer opportunities are available Thursdays and Fridays between 9am-4pm.

Office Support: Volunteers are needed to assist with general office support such as: organizing and maintaining the Resource wall, inventorying and sorting the supply room, sanding and painting wooden toys to give to children, special event mailers, assembling thank you gifts, and other projects.

Skill Based Volunteer: Be a volunteer with us in a way that allows you to apply your job skills and strengths to a great cause! Opportunities include:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Information Technology
  • Logistics
  • Project and Program Management
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Multimedia Strategy

Fundraise for Our Cause: Also known as micro-fundraising, individuals will raise money through their own individual fundraising efforts such as running a Ragnar Relay, hosting a cocktail party or a car wash. Individuals volunteer their time and solicit donations from family, friends and/or colleagues to support the Prevention Center and our cause. Please visit our Ragnar Relay micro-fundraising page for more info here.

Annual Event Committees: Volunteers assist in planning one or more of the Prevention Center’s major annual fundraising events. Individual event committees meet regularly to plan the event, secure auction items, solicit corporate sponsorship, sell program ad space, tickets, organize volunteers and more!

Donation Drive: Students, groups or businesses interested in doing a one-time project to help the Prevention Center can spearhead the collection of much needed items.  Examples include: Diaper Drive, Backpack Drive or School Supplies Drive.

Core volunteer: Have some extra time on your hands? You can help advance the mission of the Priority Center by being a core volunteer! Core volunteers support our team for a minimum of seven hours per week for three months, providing skilled support in our office. Core volunteers contribute to the daily activities of the Prevention Center and are the backbone of our events.

**Please note: if you will be receiving academic course credit for your volunteer hours, please proceed to our internship page for further instructions.
