Development Manager

The Development Manager will be instrumental in driving the organization’s revenue growth by executing sophisticated strategies that prioritize annual giving. This role involves cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of 100 high-potential donors, reactivating lapsed donors, and fostering partnerships with service clubs and organizations through strategic presentations, volunteerism, and targeted outreach. The Development Manager will work in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer to ensure alignment with organizational fundraising goals.

This role will play an active part in coordinating and executing internal and external events, securing sponsorships from individuals and corporations, and managing individual giving efforts. Additionally, the Development Manager will oversee the strategic procurement of Gifts In-Kind, aligning these with programmatic needs to maximize impact.

Collaboration across departments will be key to enhancing donor and prospect engagement, with a focus on leveraging data-driven insights from our CRM to optimize portfolio management and achieve ambitious fundraising targets. Excellence in tracking and analytics will be critical, ensuring that volunteer contributions, Gifts In-Kind, and annual giving efforts are meticulously monitored and reported.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

The Development Manager will design, coordinate, implement, and meticulously track all fundraising activities aimed at individual donors and community resources. Key programs under this role include Individual and Annual Giving campaigns, giving circles, the establishment of a monthly donor club, direct mail efforts, and beneficiary special events such as milestone celebrations and golf tournaments.

This role will also play a key part in organizing the Families Helping Families and Project Back Campaigns, establishing and expanding a robust Gifts In-Kind (GIK) program, and developing a resource network that enhances the organization’s GIK Bank.

As a hands-on position, the Development Manager will be actively engaged in every aspect of fundraising, working both within the office to support the development team and externally, engaging with service clubs to foster volunteerism and financial investment in The Priority Center. A primary responsibility will be securing sponsorships from individuals and corporations for various fundraising events.

Goals

  • Solicit individual donations ranging from $500 to $5,000 from prospects aligned with the Center’s mission.
  • Manage relationships with approximately 100 prospective supporters of the Center.
  • Develop and secure corporate sponsorships for events and establish corporate alliance partnerships.
  • Track and manage these relationships monthly using detailed analytics.
  • Regularly steward the donor portfolio through consistent touchpoints, including weekly and monthly communications, as well as meetings.
  • Create and distribute four quarterly newsletters to major donors and constituents.
  • Produce an annual impact report.
  • Manage email campaigns aimed at generating $50,000 across five campaigns.
  • Secure $200,000 in sponsorships for fundraising events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement prospect strategies, actively participating in the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition of donor activities.
  • Serve as a key member of the development team, collaborating with the Chief Development Officer and maintaining a strong, positive, and highly professional presence in the community.
  • Interface effectively with executives and board members, demonstrating strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Exhibit strong public speaking abilities and excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrate proven success in securing corporate and individual sponsorships for events.

Account Management

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to develop and implement long-term, cross-functional strategic plans to meet fundraising goals, including setting benchmark milestones for financial performance, relationship development, year-round engagement, and donor stewardship.
  • Establish and maintain a qualified fundraising pipeline, focusing on achieving ambitious goals to enhance revenue streams.
  • Plan, oversee, and execute annual fundraising initiatives to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Develop and implement targeted strategies to achieve fundraising goals for key accounts.
  • Deliver high-level sales strategies and professional presentations to drive donor engagement and support.
  • Take an active leadership role in departmental and organizational initiatives as needed.

Position Qualifications

  • This is a hybrid position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), with the possibility of additional days around events. Standard office hours are nine-hour days.
  • The organization operates on a 9/80 schedule, meaning employees work nine-hour days and have every other Friday off.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two to five years of nonprofit fundraising experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Canva, social media platforms, SharePoint, Outlook, and CRM software.
  • Capable of delivering effective individual and group presentations that are impactful and drive financial support for the Center; strong public speaking skills are essential.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining key relationships, quickly building rapport to achieve results.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, with the ability to independently prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work both collaboratively and independently, with a willingness to embrace innovation and change.

Compensation

This is a full-time exempt position with compensation ranging from $55,000 – $60,000 annually.
