Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Sep 01, 2024

At The Priority Center, we are committed to promoting mental health and preventing suicide. Through education, advocacy, and support, we strive to create a world where everyone feels valued and supported in their mental health journey.

Join us this September to raise awareness, offer support to those in need, and strive for a future where individuals never feel that suicide is their only option.

How You Can Help

Participating in Suicide Prevention Month can take many forms, depending on your interests, resources, and availability. Here are some ways you can get involved:

Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn about suicide prevention, warning signs, risk factors, and how to support someone who may be struggling. Knowledge is a powerful tool in prevention.

Volunteer: The Priority Center needs volunteers to support their suicide prevention efforts. This could involve participating in our fundraising events or helping with The Priority Center’s Suicide Prevention Campaign.

Host Your Fundraiser: Organize an event in your community to raise donations to support The Priority Center’s suicide prevention programs.

  • Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Encourage supporters to create their own fundraising pages and solicit donations from their networks. Provide resources and incentives to motivate participants, such as prizes for top fundraisers.
  • Bake Sale: Gather a group of volunteers to bake and sell homemade treats at a local event, farmers’ market, church function, or outside a busy store.
  • Weekend Carwash: Spread the word about your carwash through social media, community bulletin boards, local newspapers, and word of mouth. Create eye-catching flyers and share them in the neighborhood.
  • Host an End of Summer Movie Night: Organize a movie night fundraiser in your neighborhood, community, or church, with proceeds supporting The Priority Center.

Take Care of Yourself: Self-care is crucial, especially when engaging in emotionally challenging work like suicide prevention. Prioritize your own mental health and seek support if you need it.

Spread the Word: Help us reach more people by spreading awareness on social media. Share our posts, use our campaign hashtags, and start conversations about mental health and suicide prevention. Together, we can break the stigma and save lives.
