Truck Driver (16’ box truck) – Basic Needs
The Priority Center is seeking a full-time Truck Driver for its Basic Needs Program. The focus of the program is to provide critically-needed household items to Orange County families, as required by the Orange County Social Services Agency, to allow a child to be placed with relatives and extended family members.
The Truck Driver is responsible for variety of tasks essential for the success, safety and smooth operation of the Basic Needs Program. This includes safely driving company 16’ box truck. Picking up items and dropping off items that are requested by Orange County Social Services Agency (OCSSA). Maintaining a well-organized warehouse is essential. Additional duties will be, assisting clients with car seat installations, proving resource information and completing required paperwork daily.
**Will be driving a 16’ box truck. No special license required, just a standard driver’s license and auto insurance**
Goals:
- Participate in 100% on time delivery of 2,800 emergent and 2,800 non-emergent items annually, at a minimum.
- Provide pickup and delivery of items requested by OCSSA.
- Provide resource information or research information that the clients request.
- Maintain a current Car Seat Technician certificate/card.
- Strive for 100% positive feedback on all satisfaction surveys.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Pick up & delivery of items requested by OCSSA, donors, and main office.
- Communicate with Administrative Assistant in am and pm about the daily schedule.
- Complete all documentation as required.
- Provide Satisfaction Survey & envelope to all clients.
- Load truck so that you can maximize the space, use tie downs.
- Drive safely!
Donations
- Communicate with donors’ items we can or cannot accept.
- Take pictures of all items picked up and any items that were unacceptable.
- When receiving donations have the donor complete the donation receipt. Make sure that they include their email address, assure all information is legible, you will initial the donation receipt and give them the yellow copy.
- Complete a Donation Information Sheet or tag and complete a Donation Log.
- Email the pictures, Donation Receipt and Donation Information Sheet or Donation Log to the Program Manager & Administrative Assistants. Turn hard copies into the Program Manager or Administrative Assistant with the paperwork daily.
Car Seat Certification Technician
- Provide car seat installation assistance & car seat safety packet for clients receiving car seats whenever possible. And complete all required documentation.
Safety
- Operate the truck safely and within legal limits of the law, at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle including the front cab and rear storage areas.
- Follow all safety rules including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain zero avoidable driving-related and work-related accidents/zero moving violation or infractions.

Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in inventories
- Keep warehouse clean and organized; includes sweeping, mopping, taking all trash out and bag trash cans. Complete tasks on white board.
- Clean men’s restroom bi/weekly and keep supplies well stocked.
- Assure vehicle maintenance appointments are being met.
Position Qualifications:
- Valid driver license and provide a copy of current auto insurance
- Pass backgound Live Scan fingerprinting
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Clean DMV print out
- After training responsible for keeping Car Seat Technician card current
- No lifting restrictions and ability to lift 75lbs
- High School Diploma
Compensation:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with hourly compensation of $17 per hour.
