The Lead Home Visitor provides parent education and community linkage to families with infants and toddlers that have significant behavior concerns. The Lead Home Visitor also assists the Program Director and Program Supervisor with additional administrative duties as assigned.
Goals

- Complete documentation as required by Program Director, Program Supervisor, and/or agency in a timely manner.
- Meet goals for opening/closing cases as defined by milestones provided by Program Director and Program Supervisor.
- Provide support for the program through additional duties stated below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Home Visitor Duties
- Provide parenting education via the First Five Orange County-approved KIPS (Keys to Interactive Parenting Scale) curriculum and PAT (Parents as Teachers) curriculum
- Maintain a caseload of up to 16-20 clients/families
- Respond immediately to newly assigned cases to ensure agency connection
- Conduct initial needs assessments
- Develop relationships with families that build upon strengths & enhance self-sufficiency
- Provide personal visits with a focus on parent education, problem-solving, and case management
- Coordinate with all agencies involved in cases
- Comply with Mandated Reporter requirements
Provide ongoing observation for elements of abuse and neglect within assigned families - Maintain cases in accordance with First Five Orange County and Orange County Social Services Agency (SSA) requirements
- Attend all required meetings
- Perform development screenings, home safety checks, oral health education, immunization screenings, and other activities required by the First Five Orange County
- Participate in the seasonal events/programs benefitting clients
Lead Duties
- Provide mentorship to program staff around program milestones and client paperwork
- Assist with program development and the development of new projects
- Provide support, for the Program Director & Program Supervisor, including but not limited to:
- Review and assign referrals
- Assist with hiring new program staff
- Facilitating shadowing opportunities for new program staff
- Assist with new employee training, with a focus on resources for clients and documentation protocols
- Co-facilitate case reviews and staff meetings
- Provide supervision of administrative items for program staff, and tabulate and track monthly statistics (including, but limited to entering statistics into F5 High Five/Sales Force by the 15th of the following month, Submit reporting data to First 5/SSA, and similar duties), as needed
Secondary Duties
- Participate in weekly individual supervision and monthly case review
- Maintain updated statistics monthly
- Report the weekly number of home visits, direct service hours, travel time, and other types of client statistics as needed for SSA/First Five Orange County reporting.
- Participate in the planning of various agency and program events as needed
- Assist in public education activities (speaking presentations to organizations and client outreach, etc.)
Position Qualifications
- High School Diploma or related field or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-2 years related experience required, 2-3 years preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese is required
- Successful completion and maintenance of KIPS certification training program and PAT (Parent as Teachers) certified
- Access to a reliable vehicle and current car insurance
- Valid California Driver’s License
Working Conditions
- Requires traveling to clients’ homes for home visits
- Due to the nature of in-home work, the working conditions vary greatly. Direct service staff may be exposed to any environmental or situational hazards that may occur in homes. Most of the time is spent traveling to and working in clients’ homes
- May require some evenings and Saturdays
- Office working environment is mostly indoors, reasonably clean, well-lit, and ventilated
- In the office, generally little or no probability of injury or health impairments
- Requires little or no physical effort other than intermittent standing, sitting, or walking while performing duties, occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
Compensation
This is a full time, non-exempt position with hourly compensation ranging from $25.00 to $26.25, equating to approximately $52,000 to $54,600 annually.
